Welcome to your Base Metal Projects for Silver Clay Artists!

I made this module in response to a lot of you wanting to try out base metals but not sure where to start or how to proceed. These projects are all pretty simple in nature, but they are meant to give you an interesting dip into base metals, using your skills you already have but combining them with new base metal skills.

Using base metals isn't a whole lot different to silver clay but there are a few major differences which these projects explore. One is obviously the firing process and the other (and for me) a surprising one is just how much work you have to do to keep things fro cracking and coming apart during the firing process!

So I have tried to keep these projects interesting with a wee bit of a twist and I hope you will enjoy them. There are four for you to explore:

The mixed metal pendant because we have different colours of metal, which is a lot of fun, why not go a wee bit out there are make something with copper and bronze?
The folded pendant because base metal clays are so foldable and look lovely when they are finished. The challenge with this one is making sure that it doesn't crack during the firing process.
Silver and copper ring - because why not? We all love silver, let's combine it with copper. This is actually a new favourite look of mine. This is just one of several techniques which can be used to combine copper and silver.
Silver and copper earrings because this is showing you another way to successfully combine copper and silver and have the silver be the star of the show.
